Shall I switch my economy7 metre?
Hello there,
Until recently we have been on night storage heating which has been quite expensive, me and my partner work full time so was paying a lot for a bit of heat in the morning before work, we have had them removed and fitted rointe electric radiators in, which run off the mains and we can have them on when we want, so would it be cheaper to have my metre removed and go on a standard tariff? And also the best company to go with, we are currently with SSE at the moment but does any one no of any good electric only deals?
Thank You
Simon

YEs you should definitely look at going for a normal tariff, as usually the peak electric is more expensive (so you are allowed cheap rate at night).
npower have good prices, but poor customer service (but if your good with managing money then I would try them).

How many rointe and how much did the rointe cost fully installed ?Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. It's worth putting your consumption figures into a comparison site with an estimate of the percentage you would use overnight. Appliances like washing machines, dishwashers, etc, are worth running overnight. And some of the most competitive E7 tariffs don't charge much more on peak rate than the single rate offers.0

It cost about 2k in total for 8 radiators, where we had 3 night storage heaters before but we decided to put one in every room while we was doing it but won't use them all at the moment, we mainly changed it as we are paying a lot for heating when we are not home to enjoy it apart from a hour in the morning while we get ready for work,
We are with SSE and we pay 17.47 per kW for day and 7.43 per kW at night as we haven't been on our direct debit metre for a year yet I haven't got a years worth of reading, as we have no mains gas where we live this is our only source of heating (electric), as for night time usage we only use the washing machine which we only do 1 load a week maybe 2
Thanks for all your advice0 -

At £250 per radiator that's very very cheap for a fully installed 8 unit 1kW K Series, yes, unless you use cathedral sized quantities of hot water you would be better on a non-E7/10 tariff assuming you are only home the usual 1+7 hours. I assume the was wired direct to the 13a system in which case you may need to have a 'sparky' make adjustments to your water controller as the old PartL night store system will now not auto switch on the water heating to the bottom of the two heating elements in the cylinder. As the output of the 9 element is under 1kW you would help the group if you came back around Easter and gave us the costs and comments on whether a moderated 1kW was enough to give you a comfortable heating experience with this type of panel heater.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
