OS Daily Thread Saturday 22nd Nov

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all
Hugs to Molly, Hilly, Elona & everyone suffering with the BD, Lilly I hope you are ok, also hugs to anyone else in need.
At the last minute my SIL managed to get home so I didn't have to babysit the DGC's, and hubby was home earlier than expected so we had a nice evening together.
Much as I love my grandchildren I was relieved as I was very tired (Tru, I've been diagnosed with a potassium deficiency) partly caused by the deficiency & partly by a bit of a panic on at work, a department asking for 1200 booklets by EOP Monday. My line manager has been informed & said 'Do what you can & don't worry' but if I don't get them done it impacts on the students, so I stayed late yesterday & will probably do the same on Monday.
Hubby is working this morning, I'll drop him off, then collect DD2 & take her to work to save her walking, she's been back & forth to hospital for a endoscopy as she isn't well, but finally has a diagnosis, her gastric band is twisted so she need surgery to correct it. Also DD1 is bringing her babies over to see me, & I need to start cutting out the Father Christmas outfit for hubby. A busy weekend methinks.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning :hello:
camelot I'm sorry about your friend. I hope work wasn't too bad yesterday xx
redruby How's your mum getting on? x
snoozer Grrr at the racism. I hate all the 'isms' but racism is the worst. I hope you enjoy your weekend x
meanmarie When is your op? x
sistercas I hope you find a good solution for your mum. Thinking of you xx
Also, it didn't feel right to send you cake on your birthday (I ummmed and ahhhed for a few minutes before deciding no) but I've left one over in the corner for you to help yourself to now, if you feel like it :bdaycake:
The shower blew a fuse yesterday, I hoped against hope that changing it would fix it but no. I KNOW that the fuse only goes if there's a problem with the thing you're trying to use but I was trying to be positiveIt now has two problems and it's more expensive to fix than replace. We have one of those hose shower spray things for the bath taps so we were going to just use that for now. Mum rang for something and I had a whinge about the shower, she said we should pop round and pick up her spare one. Who on earth has a spare electric shower??!!! lol. We had to move the pipe and the unit is a different shape to the old one so we have a few screw holes on show in the wall but I don't care

It rained yesterday afternoon so I didn't get any gardening done. Never mind, it was nice and cosy in the house, on my sofaI want to get a few things done out there before monday so hopefully it won't rain today.

Good morning everyone :hello:
Up very early this morning as I've hardly had any sleep. I have a new CPAP mask as I thought it would help but it didn't. I'm just so tired all the time, maybe I need to admit defeat and get some tablets from my doc but I had them before and got so I couldn't sleep without them. Hmmm I need to weigh out the pros and cons I think.
Anyway, sorry to hear about your DD's band being twisted Hester, that is one of the reasons I didn't want one but I really hope they can sort it out for her quickly as she must feel so awful.
Tru, aren't mums great for having stuff just in case lol. My friends mum has a whole house full of spares including a washing machine and fridge freezer under her house just in case!
I'm not planning to do much today as the DD's are all short of money so have offered to do all the housework in the hope of earning a few quid. I don't mind as long as they do a good job. Hubby takes over the cooking on the weekends so I will be sitting on my backside knitting some hair for my mermaid. I have a home for her now as my friend had a baby boy last night so I will give it to her 2year old daughter so she doesn't feel left out. I'm sewing a cross stitch for the baby so I need to get a wiggle on with that too.
No grandchildren this weekend so hubby can have a lovely lie-in. I will try and get back to bed in a while to see if I can catch some zzzz's, if not everyone will have to put up with a grumpy dumpling!
Hope everyone manages to have a nice day whatever you are up to. Take care xx0 -
Good Morning All
Hester - Hopefully you can relax a little this weekend!
Been up for a while, drinking coffee and surfingjust about to jump in the shower as need to go down to the post office. DS & DD still in bed, Little dog has just fed her puppies and everything is peaceful at the moment.
Need to get quite a lot done today, went shopping with DD yesterday and got quite a bit of Xmas shopping. It is currently in the dining room and I need to sort though it so I can make notes and see what else I need to get. My office desk looks like a bomb site and my ironing pile is threatening to topple  it has been one of those weeks.
So whilst I am not going to make definite plans I hope to 'potter' about and get something done. I would like to get next weeks menu planning done, menu planning completely went out of the window when I was mia and it really really notices.
Well better get on, have a great day all.x0 -
Just been getting my bits together as I'm off to 'babysit'
:):) my three DGS as their Mum and Dad are going up to London for a show (Billy Elliot) and a meal and overnight stay in an hotel.
The only night of the year that DD & son-in-law ever go out It's his birthday next week so its their treat for his birthday, and it means DD can get some presents and bits tomorrow for their children. No peering little eyes aroundShe'll probably drop them off at my house before coming home tomorrow
:).I am taking the boys to Sittingbourne to get something for dinner tonight, and some goodies for our 'naughy night' when we snuggle down on the sofa and watch rubbish t.v.
.
Its looks very wet and grey outside at the moment so we will be wrapped up warm before we go I think.Definitely a nip in the air lest night temretures dropped quite a bit I do hope we won't get the awful snow that the U.S. has at the moment.I much prefer snow on a Christmas card.
Have a good weekend chums whatever you are doing

Good morning all
Foggy here in south yorks, but quite mild so no need for the heating on
l woke up this morning to Christmassy smells - I did some pineapple chutney overnight in the slow cooker (first ever attempt), and it has turned out really lovely. Enough for 2 jars to put away for Christmas. Will be looking for something similar to do.
Off to jumble sale later this morning and then may try and call in our local RSPCAs Christmas Fayre.
Hope you all have a good day.

Morning everyone
The fog has burned off here and the sun is shining. Early rain has also gone so my fingers are crossed for a fine day.
My huge delivery of bird food is still lingering in the outbuilding so that needs moved today into the garden shed. Already done a wash and hung it out and now ready to face the rest of the day.
Not much planned really but need to do a little housework. After Monday we won't be back here at the house for a fortnight as we're visiting the old haunts and friends in Newcastle. Haven't been back for over a year so it'll seem strange.
Going to make another chicken/chorizo casserole thing as it fed me for a week at work and really stopped me from either snacking or buying sandwiches. Got enough chicken thighs to last the week.
Something OS today - three weeks ago I bought a bunch of alstromeria flowers and they are still going strong and look as fresh as new. I'm really impressed with them though can't remember where I got them from!
Right - hope everyone has a good day and is well.
Happy Saturday.0 -
Morning all,
I feel a bit brighter today.... you watch someone will go out of their way so spoil it. Hubby tried this morning when he criticised my choice of footwear but although I gave in in the end... he still failed.
Grocery shopping this morning that's when hubby has checked his tyre pressures. He had his winter tyres fitted to the car yesterday. The garage managed to fit him in between customers so it was a bit rushed.
Weather bright and wet. Dogs at my feet wanting to be fed.
Youngest was a dirty stopout last night. I haven't heard a peep from him since he went out last night. I'm resisting the urge to text him.
Got Grandbaby overnight. Sooner or later he's going to need a bigger cot as he's getting a big boy!
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning all. I'm at work, very quiet. DH and DS13 were up early with me as they are at a robot competition today, and needed to get on the road early. DS16 is at home, although he has a guitar lesson later, and is meeting friends at the cinema this afternoon. Hopefully they will all be back for dinner, although not sure if DS16 will be.
Need to put a wash on when I get back. Planning some baking tomorrow, and I might make some ice cream as have eggs and cream. Need to check ice cream bowl is in the freezer, might need to have a sort out to fit it in if not.0
