Whatever you do don't fall into the trap of thinking transits are any better because they aren't0 -
I have today been told by Vauxhall local garage that the injector they were trying to replace has broken and they can't remove the other 3 so I have no choice but to have a new engine. The van broke down beginning of jan and I was told by local garage to take it to Vauxhall main dealer as problem had been on watchdog and would be fixed free of charge. Vauxhall say No over 7 years old (reg 14dec 2007). So won't help with cost. Had it been a month sooner it would have been within the 7 year period and would have been repaired at their cost. I took van in on 15 January following a breakdown. So I am literally 30 days too late. It seems grossly unfair that after Vauxhall admit liability they then won't help with costs, which now that they have broken the injector is going to be thousands. I am a self employed painter decorator and can not afford this. Is there nothing I can do.0

It might be down to you having the older model (if you do, that was the year they changed to the 2.0 nissan engine)0

It was first registered dec 07 but according to vin no is 2008 model. Vauxhall have stated strict 7 year of age cut off point so 30 days too late in breaking down. (It's a 2ltr). Latest update is now having to have reconditioned engine at a cost of £4500 as garage tried to drill all four injectors out but unable to completely remove. Losing work not having van as self employed so need it back Asap.0

Is the rest of the engine on its last legs? Surely even a feeble mechanic could get the injectors out once he had the head off?0

There are mobile specialists with custom hydraulic equipment for removing these, even when they snap. The guy who did mine does nothing but these m9r injectors all day every day, renault main dealers subby the job out to him he visits them every week. Wasn't dear apparently but the dealer paid so i dont know exactly how much it was. Despite 2 injectors, -a loom repair 2 central locking motors and a driveshaft and pas pump done 210000 between 2 trafics i'd have another in a second. Been far more reliable than the transit, scudo and expert i had before.0

If they snap, it's a head off job, no puller is going to extract pulling on fresh air.0

When they snap its usually at the bottom of the threaded section, leaving an unthreaded part still sticking out that a special clamp can be fitted to. They only break at the base if a ham fisted attempt has been made at getting them out and even then they can still be rescued with a big easyout heat and an air impact gun.
If its broken off right at thehead chances are this cuy had a go at it: http://youtu.be/OKqnlXwTUu00 -

Dabid, did you appeal to Vauxhall for them to reconsider your warranty claim? I'd like to know if any people have had any luck with pushing Vauxhall for compensation outside the 7 years cut off date.
I'm in the same boat. Only 90,000 on the clock, 4 months outside the cut off date, I feel cheated by Vauxhall because this fault is often not apparent until 7 years+. I'm still deciding whether to get is fixed by Vauxhall at a cost of around £2000 and then try to fight their unfair compensation scheme. Or just bite the bullet now and get it fixed cheaper by a local mechanic - probably half the price - and then never speak to Vauxhall for the rest of my life.
Does anyone know anything about appealing the "out of warranty" decision? Thanks0 -
It puzzles me the amount of owners on various forums who have said their injectors failed, garage couldnt get them out, or they've snapped off at the top or half way down and they've been paying for new cylinder heads or even engines.
I've been maintaining quite a few of these vans and fair enough, most have suffered injector failure. I bought a dedicated kit for getting them out and never failed to extract one, even when they snap off half way down. I've certainly never had to take a cylinder head off.0
