Think I annoyed the Nationwide advisor.

You can have a number of applications going along online!
We had 4 proceeding at one stage as our first one was ambushed by a rather overzelous branch advisor! She then was away on holiday for a forthnight and no-one else could 'release' our application so we started another. Our second application i got confused and put in conflicting information and then the form wouldn't let me go back and edit it! The third one crashed midway, and finally our fourth one went all the way!
We did struggle with repeated submission of paperwork to support our application (you can post or take it into branch and have their mortgage advisor fax it over).
The call centre staff do try hard - but are only following the list of instructions in front of them - they were most surprised when we knew the answers to questions they hadn't even asked us yet!
They like to push that you must go into branch for the 3 hour interview or do an equivilant our the phone one - but you just tick a few disclaimers and proceed without the 'advice'.
Sat by the phone waiting to complete today!Smile it confuses people!0 -

Well ours took 2 hours made up of checking who we were with pay statements and passports etc. Followed by every possible option for each type of mortgage before we ended up with the option I wanted when we started. There then followed the insurance options and life insurance which we skipped as they are much cheaper elsewhere. Was it worth 2 hours, well yes to make sure I hadn't missed anything.
Nationwide sent lots of texts explaining what they were doing and we had the full decision 5 days later.0 -

The making sure everything was completed properly was my main reason for going in branch, plus if I have a query I can ask face to face and if they need some information I can provide it.
Sounds like they are quick at making the final decision which is what is needed otherwise housing market would grind to a standstill.
I know which product I want so it will be a waste of time having to sit through their "advice" on alternative products but if its a necessary evil then so be it.0
