Nearly Got There

on 8th June 2006 i posted to say i had 9300 pounds worth of debt, not really posted much since, and now as of this week i owe 246 pounds!!!

I can't believe i have done it so quick! Now have an 11 week old son and am on maternity leave so have done it just in time really and now totally share the bills with my fiancee that i was not doing before, and it feels good.

It has felt like forever and its only just as i had a look at my old post i have realised how quick i have done it.wow.

I am a bit down though as i just keep kicking myself about what i could of done with all that money that i have wasted over the years, im only 25 so at least i have learned my lesson young. How do you overcome that feeling of kicking yourself for your past mistakes? i still feel like i am so stupid for what i done and feel such a fool!

14 months. I misread it at first and thought uh-oh, she's consolidated and hasn't had her lbm yet!
Took my eyeballs out and polished them a bit and saw my error.

Anyway iwillgetthere, don't ever regret something you have done- you can't take it back! Look at all the positives that have arisen from the situation. You are entering motherhood nearly debt free. You will probably never get into debt again and you now know how to make your money work for you. I think you've set yourself and your family up for the best sort of future you can provide and good on you.

Congratulations:j Don't keep beating yourself up for past mistakes. You have learned a lot for it and can now concentrate on the future with your new baby. You won't make the same mistakes again and that in itself is priceless. Praise yourself for how well you have done. You have achieved a lot:beer:

  • Thanks for your kind replies.

I have def learned from my mistakes will never ever make them again.

I did things like ditch my mobile contract, only top up about 5 pound a month now! Was spending between 30-50 a month before.

Changed my gas suppliers. No holidays, packed lunch for work.No alcohol, i don't smoke anyway.

Getting return tickets instead of paying each way, and using my penny pot for xmas. every penny counts!

Totally stopped buying clothes, takeaways, haven't been out for about a year, mind you pregnancy helped there, as i didn't mind!!!

Just been paying my bills and food shopping and thats it.i do my food shopping online, i don't drive so delivery is price of a cab.So only get things i need that way.

I look at things over the year, so if you want that mulitpack of crisps for 1.00 times it for 52 weeks, instant 52 pound saving, all the little things add up.If you do that with everything you will save a lot!

Well just got to concentrate on saving for a car and my wedding now, save save save! Thats all i want to do!

:T I have to say it is always great to see things like this as it is inspirational to hear from people who have battled their way through it and it is reachable.
