Free Boiler Installation is Rubbish

Greetings all
I would like to point out that just about all these misleading guides about getting free boiler installation is rubbish.
An 84 year old widow living alone on only her OAP needed a new boiler. For 2 years and following the guides on this site she phoned various Energy suppliers and Heating advice centers in an effort to get a new boiler. The net result from everyone she spoke to was negative. Some did call call to her home but everyone said she was not eligible and some even said that they are not in the scheme. Including British Gas. One or two did state that if her boiler was not working they might be able to do something but in essence she was wasting her time. Engineers were unable to service her aging appliance and so it did die. However those companies that did say that they may be able to do something if the appliance was serviceable now state that they can do nothing.
With winter approaching the only certain was a very cold winter and the prospect of freezing to death.
So it is clear to us that the vast information on this site is misleading, out of date or grossly inaccurate despite the willingness to help. This episode did cause this lady severe distress during the period when her daughter suffered and died from a brain tumor.
Please list some accurate information deleting historic inaccurate details. Many pensioners who need this advice do not have access to the internet or own smart mobiles or computers and rely on neighbors to gather information.
Regards

The problem is that there has never been a free boiler scheme. The scheme is as follows.
The amount of money available to replace a boiler under the ECO scheme is calculated by working out how much energy will be saved by fitting the boiler.
This figure is then multiplied by the current rate being paid per unit.
The price fluctuates, and the amount of energy saved varies from house to house and the cost of the installation varies from house to house.
This meant that some lucky people recieved free boilers, however many had to make small contributions.
So at the moment the price paid per unit of energy saving is very low, this means that although the scheme is still running and will continue to run until about 2018 no one is installing under the scheme because the amount is so low and everyone is waiting for thie price to increase to previous levels.
This has all happened because of labours idea to freeze energy prices and scrap schemes like this. This has ment the big energy companies who are forced to deliver these energy savings are waiting to see what happens in the election at which point the scheme wil end or the price per unit will go up and companies will start working under the scheme again."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
Is it not different up here in Scotland! Scottish government backed scheme I think.0

See if there is an Anchor Trust 'Staying Put' scheme in her area.
If either her or her husband were in the forces, try SSAFA.
If she's only getting the state pension, isn't she entitled to Pension Credit?0 -

Hasn't Labours price freeze threat kept prices higher than they should be?0 -

Yes it has kept energy prices high.
But it has also kept the price that is paid to installers for the eco scheme per unit of energy saved low meaning that the eco scheme is now only paying up to £1k at most for a new boiler"talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0
