Hello lovely techies
I am having a weird problem with my PC. I am running Windows XP, btw.
When I switch my PC on, sometimes the desktop appears, but all jumbled up. The buttons and icons and background etc are all there, but in the wrong places - like one of those childrens puzzles where you have to slide all the squares around to make a picture (if that makes sense?).
I have used the old fashioned techie solution of switching the machine off and switching it back on again and that usually does the trick. However, it worries me that this is signifying that something more sinister is going on.
Does this make any sense and do you have any suggestions?
thank you

"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."

Try this for saving and restoring position of icons:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Download and install the little free programme, found on line 188 on the right-hand side. Add Save and Restore Desktop Layout to Menu,
Now when you right click on your desktop, the options Save/Restore Desktop Icon Layout has been added to the drop-down menu.0
