Comic Con - How much pocket money to take?

He's always been a favourite of mine
I had a couple of signed pics from about 15 years ago, was good to get an up to date one. We got two signed pics and a couple of photos with him for free... and all we had to do was stand in the rain for 2 hours lol.

I'd love to see Chris Barrie :EasterBun:happylove:kisses2::kisses:
As for Comic-con, I'd give him £20 for food, maybe another £20 or so as a gift and leave it up to him if he wants to take more from his own savings. I would imagine that it would be very easy at an event like this to spend a fortune so I'd suggest capping the total at about £100.0 -
IMO, I think if I were him, I would take as much as I had; he can't take too much, as there will be sooooo much he can buy. But I would recommend about £80 if he wants to buy some good stuff. If YOU are giving him the money, and he has none of his own, the just give him about £40, because he should have known he was going, and should have saved.
Though friend's son asked me a few months back if my son would be allowed to go and I said yes, I have heard nothing at all about it until a day or two ago when son announced 'guess, where I am this weekend'. Having heard nothing, not even from the friend's parents who have purchased a ticket on son's behalf and not told me how much I owe them, I hadn't given it any thought to actually still going ahead or including son.
So the question of spending money has come up and this is what I've said to son, I wasn't told anything about it - other than the initial agreement you could go - and you should have saved your pocket money for it. If he had have saved, I would have still added to his money and included enough for meals.
Son has never read a comic book in his life, but does know the characters and likes the drawings, so he'd be unlikely to buy a comic or book, more likely to buy something that has characters on it. As such, I don't know if he'd even recognise any celebrities0 -
Me and my hubby are going tomorrow :-)
We went last year, it's a fun thing to do.
It's difficult to say how much he needs. Obviously he has an entrance ticket already? (or the money for the ticket). Food can be a bit pricey, so best to take food in with you (which is what we do).
If you want photos/autographs, they are generally £10-15. T-shirts around £20. There are lots and lots of stalls and things to buy. If he wants to listen to actors speak on stage, its free. Obviously just walking around, browsing and enjoying all the wonderful costumes people wear, that's free too!
If he isn't planning any particular purchase, I'd give him £40.
Hope that helps.0 -
I go in cosplay to comic con. My last cosplay was wonder woman. It is a very expensive place. If he is planning on spending, then a minimum of about £50.00 should get him something nice, however there is so much to do there for free, he could go without money and still have a good time.0

I have worked at ComicCon a few times, it is fab, but really expensive!
We got complimentary tickets so my husband took my youngest son, my youngest daughter and a couple of her friends.
They just about managed to spend everything I earned that day!
To give you an example, I was painting a girl of about 20 and she very excitedly told me that she had only been in the venue for ten minutes but had already spent over £60 (and she had brought lots more dosh with her!)
We were very, very busy from start to finish with no let up, as we were one of the few things that were free to the public!
He will love it, make sure he saves up for the next one!

Also going tomorrow with DD14 and she is taking a lot of cash with her, but to be fair, she has saved up really hard since the last one and will also have some Christmas money off various relatives to spend as well.
She is an avid collector of Manga and Anime, so I am just going to carry the bags lol.20p Savers Club 2013 #17 £7.80/£120.000 -

Is your DD 14, or is she child number 14?!:eek:
As many people have said, comic con stuff tends to be expensive as a lot of it is collectible - so the more money one can take, the better. I wouldn't go in with less than £60/70 personally.Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!
You're not singing anymore........ You're not singing any-more!0 -
