Hello fellow readers
just a quick post to put my experience here as when i was applying for various credit cards in the past the posts here helped me as well.
Well, i applied for a tesco credit card about 2-3 months ago and they refused me straight away, i even appealed in writing and they refused that as well. The reason i applied for the tesco card is because i am sucker for points and rewards, so once they refused i waited for about a month and then applied for debenhams credit card and got approved £4000 straight away, after one week i applied for MBNA more rewards card and got accepted with £4500, after one week i looked for M&S credit card with £30 vouchers so applied for that one as well and got accepted with £4000, and after a week i applied for AMEX gold charge card and got accepted straight away as well. Now before i applied for tesco card, already had a barclaycard freedom with £3000 and santander123 card with £3500, a capital one with £1800 and first direct with £500. I have also got about £4000 of overdraft with barclays and first direct. So while everyone accepted my application even with in one week difference I am not sure why tesco refused it. Also the eligibility checker at MSE said my chances for getting a AMex card was 4/10 and M&S card 50%. I also got a noddle account and according to them my scores are 3/5 and i will struggle to get credit. So the scores on these sites and eligibility does not reflect the true results at all. Also i had a bad debt written in my credit file for default on amount of £2200 since 2009 as well.

stick with Amex...the best customer service on the market.
if the gold charge gives you incentives you want, great...even if short term.
i've been a Cashback Creditcard customer or 10yrs+, and wouldnt swap it:T0 -
Each lender has its own criteria and preferences.
I churn cards fairly frequently for introductory discounts and rarely get less than £7k limit on the new cards but without fail MBNA always decline me. No idea why, its been happening for a decade, moved address a few times in that time so unlikely to be an issue with my original address and anything else that was on the CRA files back then would have dropped off by now.0
