Hi i was award PIP the beginning of this year after going through a whole year of waiting and the dreaded assessment , i have now been called for review already i filled the form in and sent it with the new info as well as my health has gotten worse. well i recieved a date for assessment only giving me 6 days notice , i have managed to get atos to cancel the appointment and make the next one for end of the year as they have said for my doctor to request a home visit. I'm just wondering has anyone that got award pip been reviewed already just i can't understand how they are review pip claims already when they havent gotten the back log sorted out?

Hey smudge, a few of us original claimants have had the forms. There's a thread further down about it.
One was re-awarded with no assessment, purely paper based. Everyone else, including me, is still waiting. Atos have only just received my new form and evidence so I don't know yet if I will be called for assessment again. I'm trying not to think about it too much as I'm doing okay and don't want to end up in the same state as last time over it all.0 -
Hi Smudge, It depends on how long your award was for. I was awarded until August 2017 but was told they'll contact me in August
2016, the reason they contact you so early is because of the backlog.0 -
Hi Smudge, I have just received my renewal - I was originally awarded until July 2015 (high care/low mobility). I sent my renewal back in August and was convinced that I would need another assessment (I made a total hash of the forms) but I did include absolutely every letter from the last year from my care team, including appointments, prescriptions, assessments, reviews, etc. The PIP team took 3 months to review my claim and have awarded me until October 2017 - without needing another assessment (though it was only 11 months since my last one) - they have kept the care component the same - but removed the mobility. I cannot understand the reasoning behind that, but have not got it in me to request a further review. I am just grateful that it is over for now - without the ridiculous stress of the first time. Hopefully they have a different team for the reviews and they are quicker than the original claims. Though because both yourself and 925 dancer were assessed the same time as me me originally - it does seem a bit odd to request you to have another one in under 12 months. I hope your assessment goes well and you do not have too long a wait for your renewal. Keep us posted and good luck. x0
