B&C Compliance - wrong figures

Hi apologise if this is covered else where, please feel free to move but couldn't find a thread relating to my letter -

Received a letter today from HM Revenue and Customs B&C compliance operations saying that the figure I gave them for this current tax year is wrong (£15405.00) and they think it is approx. £12963.00 so therefore could be underpaying me tax credits.

Has anyone been in this position? I believe their figure is incorrect unless they are deducting things that I do not know of.

I am trying to get through on the 03000566553 number on their letter but so far I have been very unsuccessful.

any help would be much appreciated. Thankyou

im currently on maternity leave, my dh job/income hasn't changed since april when we began claiming (our first time claiming as earned too much in past years jointly). I am going back part time on the 17th December so our payments will most likely go down a lot. The letter just doesn't make sense!!

If I cant get through tonight I will just write them a letter.

Is it definitely for this current tax year?

When you filled the form in to apply, you would have put your 13/14 tax year income. Did you then ring up and give them an estimate?

They wouldn't have RTI data for the whole of the current year unless they are using figures to date and then working it out, which would explain why your estimate is higher because you know you are going back to work.

Hi, yes, we earned too much in 13/14 so got a rejection letter, u then phoned up with 14/15 income and we were entitled to some credits.

The letter relates to the 'tax credits award ending 5 April 2015'.

I'm not going to worry, they think we are over estimating our yearly figure and don't want us to 'miss out on any credits we are entitled to'. If I can't get through I will write a letter.

    Thanks for your replies.
