5 year 9 month unpaid debt - do i pay??

Hello all,
I have an unpaid debt on my file that was marked 5 years and 9 months ago as unpaid. I have had no letters since. No payments have ever been made against it.
Issue is I want to apply for a mortgage next year, so was going to pay off all my debt with savings.
Do i pay this one off or leave it to clear at the 6 year mark?
Morally id like to pay it, but on the other hand i dont want it to be marked on my credit file for another 6 years...
Any advice much appreciated

Pay it since it's the right thing to do.
It will drop off your file 6 years after the default - so in three months. It won't remain on there for another 6 years from payment.0
