Divorce and financial dealing seperately - can I do this ???

Hi
I have instructed a solictor to deal with the divorce side and clean break order but this does not include any advice regarding settling finanical matters
there isonly the former martial home which I have in sole name only as had before married and living together
we have 1 child together and maintaince is paid only for her.

I got a free half hr from a solictor and she advised me as there is not a great deal of equity in property I can deal with his solictor directly

I sent her an e mail with the valuations I had done and worked out the equity left after settlement of joint debts at time of seperation for in the 1st case to agree on a vaulation then to haggle over the percentages later

His solictor has now sent correspondence to my solictor dealing with the divorce stating it is not approprate for me to contact them directly ...can any one advise me if this this the case ???

thanks in advance

Stop paying the solicitor to do the divorce; you can do it yourself for the cost of the court fees. About £400.

However you do need a proper advice from a solicitor for the financial settlement. Nothing to prevent you talking directly to the ex or her solicitor but if you do not use a solicitor it is easier to get in a mess.

Give the letter your solicitor and aks them to write to her's saying that you are dealing with the FS directly because htere are few assets.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

what do you think a Clean Break agreement is about if it isn't about finances?
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

You can do the divorce yourself and maybe use a mediator to agree finances- not legally binding but a damn bit cheaper than a solicitor. You can use a mediator for finances and still use a solicitor for the rest but I'd suggest using the mediator first.
