Shoddy fitting and poor CS

I paid £900 for a brand new front door from a well-known company. In amongst the price was the measuring & fitting, plus furniture such as letterbox, split-spindle security handle and security chain.
The door arrived minus a chain. It was fitted and looked great. Couple of days later my son opened the door from the outside. I tested it out - no split spindle.
So I rang them and they sent them to me. So Ive paid £900 and I've got to fit things myself now!!
It gets better.
2 weeks later it became obvious the door had 'dropped' I could see daylight between the door and the frame when closed. So I rang them. They said they'd get back to me. This started a 2 week silence, 6 more phone calls from me and still no sign of anyone being interested. Then for 4 days we couldn't even use the door cos it had dropped so much, the lock was jamming.
So I took to social media and posted on their twitter page. Suddenly action!! They sent one of their top reps round. So I stayed in (had better things to do) and he came and wasn't happy with what he saw. He took pics and said he'll deal with it, saying " you don't have to do a thing ".
How long do I give? 7 days later, I've heard nothing and ring again ( 8th call ). I threatened to put my photos on social media and fill in online reviews.
Eventually yesterday, over a month later, the work was done, even tho my wife stayed in all day ( they came at 3.30 ) and my daughter missed out on her after school activity.
The phone calls, the hassle, the out-of-action door. Do I have a right to recompense and if so, hows best to go about it?
Many Thanks

As I see it, your only valid claim is for a few phone calls, but a read of MSE's Failed Delivery article may give you ideas.0 -
You don't think that the fact I paid for a product which was fitted so badly we couldn't use it for 4 days, is worthy of consideration?0

This might be one way of calculating that loss:
Assume the life of the product as 11 years (to simplify the figures).
Four days non-availability of the door is approx 0.1% of the lifetime of the door.
Price of door = £900
Therefore four days loss = £0.90 ...or ninety pence.0 -

No I don't. You had a problem, they remedied it, albeit slowly. Why do so many people seek compensation for every little thing that goes wrong? Maybe you made a mistake choosing such a poor product from such a poor company without doing your research.
I have a new front door, from a local company, it was fitted perfectly and was much cheaper than yours. Want to make a claim on me too?0 -

Fair comments guys, cheers for the info, altho I don't think it warranted sarcasm
oh and Harrys Dad, seeing as you've got nothing better to do with your time than to post over 1500 times to a consumer rights forum, I thought your experienced response may have been a bit more adult than that.0 -

He's posted >1500 times (in 4 years, so about 375 posts per year or just over 1 post per day) to MSE forums, not necessarily to the Consumer Rights forum.
