item now cost less do i get a refund for the difference

I bought a fridge freezer in May 2014, have had an issue and LG has agreed to replace it with a new one, the exact same model.
Have gone to the retailer where i bought the 1st one from with a letter from LG, and i have ordered the exact same model from the retailer, HOWEVER the model is now £60 less than i paid for it, my question is should i get the £60 back on my credit card, or do the shop just pocket the difference ?

You're not automatically entitled to a refund. If you politely ask, the shop may consider it, but I suspect it would be unlikely.

As appliances get older, the retailers can purchase them cheaper. As such, when the retailer purchased the fridge/freezer back in May, they would have paid more for it from LG then the one they are currently stocking.

Another way to look at it, if they had offered you a refund and said "As its now selling for £60 less, were going to deduct that £60 from your refund" - would you be happy with that?

They are going to put you back in the same position - a working fridge freezer for the price you was originally happy to pay.

You are swapping a 6 month old appliance for a brand new one.

They could have offered you a refund, deducting a % to reflect the time you have owned it.

Personally I would just accept the new one, but you could always ask...
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I doubt very much if the shop will make anything out of it.
As it is LG and not the shop[ that agreed to the replacement. it will be a warranty related claim and not a SOGA one.
The chances are that LG will be providing the new appliance and covering the cost themselves with the shop just acting and a go between for the ordering and delivery.
  • If the price had gone up £60 do you think you would offer to make up the difference?

You got it in May, it's now November, you really expect this to go your way?

Come on man, this is MSE and this particular board is rife with the compensation brigade. Of course you and I know this virtual £60 doesn't exist, but that's not to stop people trying to get on the make.

You have had a like for like replacement, you are not out of pocket - time to move and get on with the rest of your life.
