Making a screen recording.

I need to make a screen recording to demonstrate a ticket booking process. Not just screenshots, but a movie version which would include cursor movements too. It's about a 3 minute process.
Can someone suggest a good programme to do this, in Windows 7 Pro, using either Firefox or Internet Explorer.
Obviously free is preferable rather than purchased!
Thanks for your help.

I've used Microsoft expression encoder 4 with very good results. It seems far more polished and stable than other open source alternatives.
It's discontinued but free to download. It will output WMV files. You can convert these in handbrake to whatever format you need.0 -

SnagIt comes with a free trial.

Thanks for those suggestions.
I downloaded Microsoft expression encoder 4 but getting to grips with making it work seemed a bit tricky. Perhaps I'll have another look later.
I then tried the trial SnagIt and have made some recording with that. Quality is a bit disappointing but it will serve the purpose. If I save the files to a stick are they then protected from the, I think it was 15 day trial period?
Next, I'll have a look at Camstudio, but I think that's the one I tried last night and then spent the next hour or two removing all the rubbish that came with it!
Thanks for all the suggestions.0 -
Why use Snagit trial when you could use the far superior Camtasia Studio trial from the same company?0

You could pay someone to do it on peopleperhour.com0

I used Blueberry FlashBack for my Masters dissertation research, but it was several years ago, there may be better offerings (or it may be better itself).0

Really? Did it not just come up with a small bar, where you setup the area of the screen to record.. you don't need to use the 're-encoding' tool that comes with it - just rename the output files to .wmv and they'll play0 -
Thanks for all the help.
I finally found "Debut Video Capture", downloaded from filehippo. It's free for non-commercial use and if you refuse the offers of a new home page and of software updating, there are no nasties included with it.
It was simple to use, the recordings could easily be saved and transferred to a USB stick and worked perfectly for what I needed.0
