Shoes fallen apart

At the beginning of September this year I bought a pair of boots in Stead and Simpson. I've worn them maybe 3-4 times a week since then and yesterday I've noticed that they have both come apart at the heel.

I don't have the receipt but they were new into the store in September so I was wondering if I've got any rights with regards to returning them, swapping them for another new pair or anything else?

Can anyone advise me please?

You have no rights without some form of proof of purchase, good will only, if they have any.

You have the same rights as with any other product, but as bris says, without proof of purchase you are reliant on the retailer agreeing to a remedy. powerful_Rogue's question is relevant as if you paid by card then your card statement can act as your proof of purchase.

I paid £25 and did pay by debit card. Would I need to take my bank statement in?

That would probably help them, but they may be able to find the transaction in their system with just your card.
  • If you haven't got the receipt take in your bank statement showing the transaction. Otherwise it will take ages for the shop to find the transaction and not something they'll want to do with a busy shop full of customers
