New shoes worn indoors, too tight and sole worn off!?

Hi all,
Looking for advice. I just bought a pair of shoes from Dune for about 70 pounds for a dinner event I had tonight.
I wore my normal shoes and put the new heels on once we were inside the venue on a carpeted area. Stood around about 30 minutes, took stairs up to the dinner venue and took them off, put them away and slipped in to my normal shoes again as they had been hurting my feet too much.
When i took them out of my backpack (laptop bag), I looked at the soles and it looked like I had worn them in a marathon!
The heel looks unworn but the front part of the sole is very worn. One bit seems to have gotten so worn the black bit underneath is showing! How did that happen?
I wanted to see if I could change for a size bigger but really, the quality is so poor that I would rather just get a refund.
What can I do, if anything???

Take them back where you bought them from, together with your receipt or other proof of purchase.
Explain to them, just as you have above.
When did you buy them?
Did you buy them in store or online?0 -

That's ok. You're welcome.0

When you say the sole has worn off, do you mean they've split because your feet were to big?0
