The contract for the wedding was created with Danby Castle Ltd
They do not own the hotel
You paid £2250 deposit for this by DEBIT card
A new company has been created called Danby Castle Weddings Ltd.
An agreement is in place for them to take over the orginal order.
However you've cancelled the contract.
Best you can now hope for is whatever the cancellation terms were of the contract you originally entered into. The new company should honour that too, imho, (and with the lack of any information to the contrary).
The rooms appear to have been booked direct with the hotel (Milburn Arms)
You paid £250 deposit for this by CREDIT card.
The hotel is presumably still trading and your rooms are reserved (unless you've opted to cancel that too)
Edit:
Just found this on their facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/DanbyCastleEventsI (Carolyn) have had a bit of a strange 2 weeks, with this in mind please can I ask you to read the following about my beautiful home and business:
"Due to the breakdown in relationship between myself and my husband, I am writing to inform you about the future plans for Danby Castle.
Danby Castle Weddings Ltd will take over all pre-existing and future wedding bookings – and no wedding couple wil...l be let down.
Sadly, throughout this process, the hotel, The Milburn Arms in Rosedale Abbey, has had to close.
We have been in touch with all of the couples involved in this matter and I am very grateful for the support shown so far.
Myself and my team at Danby Castle Weddings Ltd will continue to offer unique weddings at the highest standard, and look forward to hosting your weddings in the near future."
Carolyn Bavister, Director, Danby Castle Weddings Ltd

Interesting the OP never mentioned any of this when they started this thread
So the hotel has closed, which begs the obvious question as to how would the weddinmg be able to go ahead there?
Anyway, the OP need to contact the hotel and reclaim their deposit.
(I'm sure there's enough equity in theat grand old building to pay £250)
If not, contact your credit card company who will assist you in recovering the room booking deposit.
(If I were you I'd probably give the cc company a ring anyway, and explain the current situation, so they have a heads up on a potential claim for the £250 coming later)
Edit2:
Unless what Carolyn really means is that the hotel has been closed for the period whilst they liquidate the old company and she opens the new one. (after which it'll be business as usual)0
