Yesterday turned into an unexpected NSD as the butcher didn't have any beef skirt (the proper meat to make cornish pasties!) but said it would be in today so DH is going to pick that up this afternoon on his way home from work. No sure whether to count that as another NSD as DH is spending or to include it as I gave him the money from the GC budget.

    What should I do?

If I counted my DH spends my budget would explode. I would not count this as a spend, but a gift to the house from DH, unless he wants reimbursing. Then I would smile sweetly and thank him for being such a good hunter gatherer etc.....

DH's can be trying at times when it comes to budgets, occasionally we gain from their insanity. Enjoy

Really pleased with my first spend of December as got Morries free fruit and veg vouchers last week and used Christmas budget to buy wine or presents so my fruit and veg for two weeks was free.

Spent £4 in Heron to stock up on Kraft light Italian dressing 3 bottles a £1, best before 2015 so a whole years worth

I also used Christmas budget to do the 3 £10 shops in Iceland get £5 bonus, got the Cans o coke on offer so will have £5 to spend on groceries after Christmas.

May I join please? The last time I tried I sold my house and three months of emptying 5 storeys ready to move to a 3 bed terrace just made everything else descend into chaos. I am also bad for buying extra bits and pieces out of the money in my purse rather than the grocery budget so it's hard to keep track of spending.

As of now this stops. We've moved house, the store cupboard has been built back up and we should be able to stick to a budget. There is me, my 10 year old son, one greedy cat who lives for her tummy and one cat that isn't so fussy and prefers a mix of wet food and biscuits. (The greedy one would prefer to be fed exclusively on fish and prawns no matter how ill that would make her). I have tried keeping a separate budget for cat food. That worked when it could be delivered cut price from Amazon, but although it is still available, it's now three times the cost so I'm trying to get them onto something that can be bought with my regular weekly shop. Therefore cat food and litter will be included in my budget.

My budget for December is £300 . I did an online shop today (child with cough and very sore throat off school ill) and spent £58.07 but forgot the baked beans. No matter as we live about 3 minutes away from our local Sainbugs which is too expensive for using all the time but is handy for stuff not available anywhere else and also in emergencies. I will also need bread this week, but not for a couple of days. The online shop was fairly easy and I'm wondering if I should carry on during December. It certainly eliminates the possibility of giving in to buying the unnecessary Christmas sweets/biscuits/gift packs/general tat.

  • Well as it's December and all of the family are at our house for Christmas, I'm putting a much higher than usual grocery budget this month - £350.

Only bread and milk needed at tesco today, but they had the walkers sensations crisps on offer, so I picked up a few for Christmas. So just over £5 spent. I need to do my big shop still this week, I've got dinners in for the next few days, but I've run out of pretty much everything else!
