Nissan Qashqai - component failure

My 5 year old Qashqai with 65k miles on the clock has just being diagnosed as having a failure within its ABS pump.
Nissan are offering no support on this and are looking to charge me almost £3k to have the unit replaced. Am i being unreasonable in thinking that such a major component of the vehicle should be lasting more than 5 years especially with such relatively low mileage.
Any advice on how to progress this with Nissan would be appreciated

Doubt you will; get a second hand part fitted . See ebay.0

Do you have full Nissan service history? I suppose that would be the only thing working in your favour to try and get some goodwill from Nissan HQ. Otherwise, it's a 5 year old car. Things happen. Take a look on the Qashqai forums - I doubt you'll be the only person this has happened to.0

Sadly Nissan's build quality is not what it used to be. Their customer service matches their build quality.
As Horizon81 suggests, you may be able to try for goodwill, but there is a reason their guarantee is only 3 years, whereas Toyota, Honda & Hyundai offer 5 years and Kia offers 7 years.0 -
Why on earth would anyone take a five year old car to a main dealer for something like that?
Local independent all the way, I bet that's doable for half Nissan's quote, if not better.0 -
I'd hit the owners forums, see what others have done; recon/refurb/secondhand etc.0

Apparently, they can be repaired.

The price they quote you is a complete joke. The part is no way near that, not even close. I'd expect that price to be nearing the cost of an engine!0
