Anyone ever been paid for staying?

My main bank account is with Yorkshire. This morning I recevied a letter from Halifax offering me £200 to switch to them. Thought I'd browse this forum to view the pros and cons when saw that YB is offering £150 to switch to them. Which made me wonder ...has anyone ever managed to persuade their bank to pay them to stay? I'd be quite happy to stay with YB for £150 rather than move to Halifax for £200. There seems a certain logic to it but I suspect it's never going to happen!

Yes, my bank currently pays me about £100 a year (before tax) to stay with them. which is credited monthly pro rata.
They have promised it is not an introductory or teaser rate, etc.
However, it is a variable and so they could change it at any time.
Will be interesting to see how many ditch & switch if/when they do ever reduce the amount. I'll be leading the charge, that's for sure!
Which bank is this?

You can only try. If you ask really nicely several times they might. If it all goes badly wrong, and you fall out with the bank, Halifax will always have you

£150 from YB (to make you stay) isn't going to happen!
In your shoes I'd open another account with YB, and switch that to Halifax for £200. Maybe even stay with them for the free fivers? Very easy to set up the requisite DDs using a couple of Tesco savings accounts.
I'm assuming you're ineligible (like me!) for the YB incentive?...as you've been paying in at least £1K per month on average over the last 6 months?0
