The fact I spoke to the same person twice already I really don't want to even risk speaking to them again especially if it's something silly and benign.

I think it's most likely to be down to the fact that I've never had £400 refunded (my statement says "credit from" in case there is a difference) so assumed once it hit my bank it had cleared. I know how to make Olympus Mons out of a mole hill.

I now know why my balance has been all over the place. I've been claiming a PPI refund and my claim had been passed over to a lawyers office by the company I initially spoke to. Without my knowledge they've charged me even though I have not yet received my refund. It's just bad timing as the £400 was for a totally different reason and now it's almost all gone with no PPI refund in sight!
