O/S Daily Wednesday 19th November 2014

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Couldn't sleep past 4am when the next door neighbour got up for work & crashed around his house slamming doors for an hour before he left.

I've started a new crochet blanket, the CAL one from Attic24's blog & I have to make a Father Christmas outfit for hubby to wear as he's been asked to visit the local nursery again this year.

I'm taking DGS to his after school activity today so I won't get home until 6 so it's spag bol for tea as it's quick & easy.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Still dark, but looks to be damp underfoot still.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 up and getting ready to go to work.

Dinner last night was a change of plan due to the hairdresser being here and me deciding that the chicken dish would take too long – so we had egg, bacon, sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, and beans. DH moaned as he thought he was getting chicken – that’s the plan for tonight instead. Although I did then surprise him with jam roly poly and custard.

Work yesterday wasn’t too bad, I sat and listened in on calls with a colleague, but I think I’m back to working on my own today – hoping I can get the hang of the computer systems again and also the changes.

Did a couple of little jobs yesterday afternoon when I got in from work, rang DS1’s insurance company who are emailing me a declaration for him to sign and return to cancel his bike insurance. Plasterer came and gave us a price – we’re happy with that so we’ll be getting that done in the New Year, as we don’t want to be messing about with the heating at the moment – we have to have a radiator taken off the wall – so system will need to be drained and switched off etc – will need a plumber to do that and as we’ve just had the boiler serviced and fixed – I’m not happy to mess with it this side of Xmas and also the plasterer can’t do it before Xmas as he’s too busy.

I will also have some admin jobs to do today when I get in, so will get those done too.

    Take care x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

I'm the only one in the office this early so it's lovely to sit and catch up on emails and so on until the place starts to fill up from about 8.00am onward. I like the peace and quiet.

No rain and still on the mild side today, I'm sure the weather is going to turn to cold soon so bought a silly woolly hat with ear flaps.

Today is sorting out some of my mum's stuff - changing hospital appointments for her and getting onto the people who are meant to be installing a hand rail outside the close for her. She was referred in July this year and yet nothing has happened yet.

Got banana and cashew nuts for breakfast and some more chicken/chorizo casserole for lunch. Already feel better for not having had bread yesterday.

Hope all is well with others.
    Happy Wednesday.

Still dark but dry outside (I know because I have been to the food recycling bin!)

Washing almost dried on the airer in the conservatory yesterday, it's just airing - in other words I can't be bothered to fold it. DW on and doing its thing.

Made 2 lots of almond flour crackers this morning, one lot has gone in the said recycling bin as I had the oven on 'grill' and they were burnt! The others are now cooked properly and cooling. Will have some with my lunch of hm tomato soup.

Going back to work, not feeling so good but I know it's really busy and I will be bored again if I stay home. Managed to sleep from 11 til 5.30 which is better than I have been doing.

Hope everyone is ok, hugs if you're not feeling too god, LW have you still got Jessie with you? Take care. XX

    Morning all,

Mild here again today but more rain due later i think. Off to work for me again.

Last nights sausage casserole was delish, will certainly do it again, there was loads of the 'gravy' left which contained a mixture of beans tomatoes etc, so I cooled it down and put it in the fridge overnight and it will become the base of tonights chicken casserole, I have found a new love for my SC :D

I need to nip to Mr T today, to get Little dog a chicken which we cook and mix in with her dog food to encourage her to eat, Mrs LW thanks for asking she is doing really well she still needs to put on a little bit of weight (hence the chicken) but otherwise really good ! Hope docky is ok xx

Sistercas still thinking of you xxx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning :hello:

The kitchen carpet is still a bit wet but slowly drying out. The plinths are dry but a bit swollen – I'm sure it won't be noticable once they're back in place :D I forgot to ring the plumber about the shower but there's no rush, it still works. We just need to remember to dangle the hose in the bath when we've finished with it, the constant sound of trickling water drives me mad otherwise.

My leg was a bit stiff yesterday morning so I decided to walk home from work, thinking walking would help loosen it up. Wrong! It got worse with each step so I stopped at the next bus stop and waited for a bus. I only had to travel four bus stops from where I was, everyone must've thought I was really lazy :D

Partridge Pete was in the chicken shed with the girls at bedtime. On one hand I thought this was great :D but he really shouldn't get too tame should he? I was debating whether or not to leave them there. I went down the garden to close the shed door, he heard me coming and flew out.

Work this morning. It's getting worse and I think I'm going to have to tell them I can't do it anymore.

Morning all! Looks very grey outside. Pottering about at home today, need to Hoover and dust, make some veg soup, and maybe some cheese scones too.

I am giving blood this afternoon, then might get some time to make cards/ crochet/ read my book. Pasta bake in cheese sauce tonight.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's really dark and cold here this morning but I am in a great mood after having 9 hours sleep. I feel ready to take on the world again :D.
I am finally going to sew up poor cinderella who has been languishing in my knitting bag for a couple of weeks now. I am not having any visitors today so I can just get on with it. I also need to sort out my desk as I keep getting avalanches of paper work sliding over my keyboard :o. Finally I want to design and make a card for hubby for our anniversary, it will involve owls and diamantes :).

I am putting a gammon in the slowcooker for tea to have with some beans, mixed veg and a baked potato. My eating has been fantastic this week, I gave up on slimming world as it really triggered my IBS so I've gone back to weightwatchers but I have had a lightbulb moment with it and I really feel I can change my lifestyle. I'm looking forward to my weigh-in on Friday as I feel that I have done well.

Well that's all my waffle for now, hope everyone has a great day whetever they are up to. Take care xx

    Hi everyone,

Dumpling, I'm glad you're getting on with weightwatchers. I need to lose some before DD gets married - I don't want to spoil the photos.

I made the celeriac and apple soup last night, it was delicious. I think we might have sausage and mash tonight, I'm a bit lacking in inspiration.

I had the most awful evening, both legs were so painful and my hands too. To make it worse we had no paracetamol in the house and although I have some prescribed painkillers they don't work as well for me as good old paracetamol. I must buy some today. I also need some toy stuffing because I am making a reindeer decoration and might do more than one if he's successful.

DS is still suffering with his mouth, apparently it's still bleeding every day so I've told him to ring the hospital.

    Have a good day.
  • Good Morning everyone, it's cold and grey here today and totally still so feels wintery and a bit bleak. He Who Knows and the lad are out for walkies and I'm off to town for some provisions to see him through until I get home on Monday. Looking forward to visiting that Zebra and the concert on Saturday and I might see if DD2 will come up to us for a couple of days so I can take the baby and let DD catch up on herself, he's being very disturbed at night at the moment and she sounds so tired.

Glad that LITTLE DOG is doing so well, it's lovely to hear and thank you yes Docky seems to actually be more contented and less anxious so I do think the Zylkene is making a difference. He actually slept right through last night until 6.45 when a little whiskery face with a very cold nose came under the duvet to say good morning wagging frantically at the other end, bless him!!!

Quiz night tonight if my sister in law is feeling better, I think she's had the same virus we all have and is cough, cough, coughing poor woman, it's so not nice!!! Have yourselves a lovely day everyone, Lyn xxx.
