Lost MS Office Key

My lap top was playing up and when I went to restore it, I was told it wouldn't lose any of my files. This is true, but apparently I now have to put in my office key, and I don't have a clue where the wee card is (it was a credit card type thing I got when I bought office). Is there somewhere hidden on my PC where I can find this, or does anyone have any other suggestions on how I can find this. Is there maybe a record somewhere that MS has to say I have a valid key? I am so upset by this any help would be really appreciated.

Did you download online? If so see if you can find email confirming confirmation and sign up.
I had to ring MS when my insurance repaired laptop asked for product key which was worn off the label underneath. They gave me a free key!

belarc - useful piece of software often lists the licence numbers of the software you have0

As Poppy mentioned, have you looked on the underside of your laptop in case there is a label there with your key?0

Would any of these utilities (belarc etc.) be any use AFTER a system restore like the OP did? (YES if it was simply a roll-back, but if it was a factory reset/restore?)0

+1 for belarc. It's always worth doing a belarc check to see what is on your pc.I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!

If you downloaded it online - login to http://office.com and install it again?0

If it's asking for the key, then no keyfinder app is going to work, because those work by extracting the key from it's location in the registry and if that was present then it would not be asking for the key.........“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
