However since Tesco have come up with this deal I've decided to knock that on the head and save my money for any deals the supermarkets do.
The wine club did sell some really nice wines but when you're only drinking it while you're surfing moneysavingexpert then any plonk will do for that won't it???
I think that's what you meant!0 -
Thanks. Off to Tesco this weekend

Very intresting…….was looking forward to the usual Tesco double up for wine and champers this Xmas but Tesco have told me that they cant do it because of a change in the law and something to do with minimum prices of alcohol. How come Sainsburys can do it if Tesco cant?? Surely it’s the same law innit?

It really is regardless of the amount though?
I could use £20 of nectar points to purchase 8 bottles of wine @£5.50 each, then only having to pay in £4 of cash to buy 8 bottles of wine.
That's 50p a bottle of wine, surely that's has to be below the minimum price for a bottle of wine?
Still if Tesco cant do it because of the law.....how can Sainsbury's??0 -

It was actually Naked Wines that I was with - and I have to say there was only one bottle of wine that I had from them that I wouldn't choose again.
I know they had some bad reviews on MSE but in fairness they accepted my decision without the guilt trip and the money that I had 'saved' with them was returned within 24 hrs
will miss some of the wines though!0 -

I suspect that sainsbury's and tesco are interpreting the law differently. What the law actually means is that in England and Wales alcohol cannot be sold below the cost of duty+vat.
I suspect sainsburys have taken legal advice that says the value of the nectar voucher can be included when considering that was paid for the alcohol (so you paid £44 - £40 voucher and £4 cash). Tesco's legal advice may have been different - as there have been no cases taken to court yet to test interpretation of the law the situation is unclear and you will find retailers acting differently depending on the advice they have received and their attitude to risk.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Well have come away with 16 bottles of the half price wines so had a £9.99 bottle for £3.74 together with their half price Prosecco which also got discounted, used a £12 voucher that Tesco sent me and had a £5 voucher off a further £40 shop!
Will use this voucher tomorrow to buy some more Christmas drink before the promotion ends.0
