Hi
I have Windows Xp and have always been able to put pc in stand by mode. For some reason this has stopped working. Any ideas please.

Check power options in control panel and check/change settings...0

Probably Bios settings.
If your bios battery has died, and for some reason you've ended up with a small power cut, or glitch, chances are its lost its setting for its power modes.
Change it from S1 (most likely defaults to that), to S3. Then it should allow you to change the power options within your operating system (windows or linux, makes no odds), to allow stand by again.
As for where it is in your bios menu, your guess is as good as mine. Every bios tends to have its own proprietary menu/interface, so just have a poke around. Until you save the changes on stuff you've done no harm, so it doesnt matter if you get confused, just reboot the pc and try again.
Hope it helps.0 -
