Trying to help someone with their PC full of pop up ads.
Ran Malwarebytes, Norton, along with other scanner, updated Java and Flash. 2000 items removed but still got issues, some sites generating 20+ pop ups.
I dont know what else to try?
Can you help me?

Create a Rescue Disc with the free version of Avast Antivirus and boot from that.

Gazza,
I can recommend the following if your using chrome, install adblock its free just google it and install, sounds like to me, you could do with a cleanup on your computer. This is what i do for anyone that needs help. In this order.
Goto Control Panel and Program and Features and wait for all the apps to update in the list put them from A-Z and go through the list one by one and decide if you need it or not. Do not remove ones like Microsoft or Intel or Drivers or anything you know that looks legit like adobe or itunes. Things like toolbars, or optimizer pro, regclean, or search protect remove these.
If they prompt to restart your computer you can but try and do this later, there should be an option saves you restarting after each uninstall.
Once you have gone through the list do a full restart and log back into your computer.
Next is Windows Update make sure any important updates are installed and downloaded.
Restart if needed
Next is run malwarebytes again making sure this is updated, and again restart after the scan is finished to Quarantine anything.
If you have an AV product ideally make sure this is up to date. Personally im not a fan of AVG or Avast or Norton or Mcafee, they just dont do what there meant to do compared to other free versions like Malwarebytes.
Up to you whether you would prefer to keep them if you have Malwarebytes i would recommend teaming it up with Windows Defender or Microsoft Security Essentials which will not slow down your computer.
Once this is done download CCleaner which is free run a full registry clean and full cleanup by ticking all options except Wipe free space which is at the bottom of the list.
Restart again see where you get to. Let us know.Kind Regards,
Arron

you'll probably need to:-
1. clear all temp files (windows disk cleanup then ccleaner)
2. reset all browsers' homepages & search engines
3. THEN run mbam, jrt and adwcleaner.
this is because installers for the junk is often sitting in temp files, so every time you reboot after thinking you've got it, it just re-infects if you leave the installers in place

When you have done all that, I agree that Adblock+ is the way to go. It stopped working for me recently, which made me realise how good it was.
I had been taking it for granted, and life without it was unbearable in terms of pop-ups and other nuisances.
I just removed and downloaded it and now I am back to normal.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?
