Red light camera 2 wheels over the stop line

Hi everyone I wonder if someone can help me understand something
I was driving a few days ago and approached a junction with cameras
I saw the light was Amber so I stopped as fast as I could I did come to a full stop before the light went red I'm 99 percent they were Amber when I stopped but I noticed that my 2 front wheels were over the solid white stop line and my 2 rear wheels were behind the White solid stop line my handbrake was firmly on so I no I didn't move
Does anyone know how these cameras work?

I do not believe I did anything wrong but not 2 sure as I had 2 wheels over the stop line I hate these lights they just make everyone edgy I just believe when Amber to stop in hindsight I may have made it through so hard to judge at times

Any thoughts would be much appreciated please

  • Yes you did something wrong. It is an offence if any part of your vehicle crosses the line when the light is red (also amber, bit with a statutory defence). Anyway, unless you saw a flash of the camera, you are fretting over nothing. The cameras normally don't trigger until 1-2 seconds after the red.

At the end of the day, waiting for 14 days to see if an NIP shows up is all you can do.
