Check Broadband Speed.... & it's .5mbps

Hi All!

The new house we're looking to buy, is in a village & just done a couple of on line site, checks, advise speed is between .5 & 2mpbs.

That sounds real slow, to me - am I right?

Is there an efficient way to check the speed potential?

& guess there's no way to improve it, whatever it is?

We're on AOL here, but could always switch, at the new house, I suppose, if that helps.

500k to 2mb is not shockingly slow for broadband speed - only a few years ago all broadband was 512k... Don't get fooled by big numbers, unless you are downloading masses of stuff and you wanna do it super fast these speeds will be fine...

Proximity to your exchange is the overriding factor and there's nothing you can do about that - http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php and see what services are available. http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/linestats.htm is also full of good stuff.
