UKPC parking charge

Yesterday I parked in a UKPC car park where you get three hours free if you display a valid ticket. On returning to my car after approx one hour I had a parking charge on the windscreen for £60 (goes up to £100 if not paid within timescale), so I scanned the ticket showing that I was within the three hours and attached it to the appeal I made via their website. However, after viewing their photos of my vehicle I can see that the reason I got the charge is because I had parked in the same car park earlier in the day on a separate three hour free ticket and their notice board stipulates that you are only entitled to one free ticket per day, so my appeal is doomed to failure!! However, after reading this forum I am wondering if I can still avoid paying the £60 but would appreciate some advice as to how I should approach this (particularly as I have already lodged an appeal directly with UKPC)?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Read the Newbies thread, those who follow the instructions therein always win against UKPC.

Presumably you admitted in your appeal that you were driving, but that doesn't really matter if they don't know who was driving on the first occasion. A car can't enter into a contract not to have itself two free tickets, cars just don't do that sort of thing, so such a ridiculous clause could only be enforceable if it were the same driver on both occasions, and how could they possibly know that?

  • Have they given you a POPLA code? if so then put togehter you POPLA appeal (the templates are here.. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/62180281#Comment_62180281 ) and post the draft on here for review before you send it off.

An the real reason you got the charge? it is because they are a bunch of shysters who want your money.

Soo easy to beat these lot.

Wait for the rejection then send a decent POPLA appeal as per post #3 of the Newbies thread. You can say what you like in the POPLA appeal, add all the stuff we show there in the 'HOw to win at POPLA' examples (never mind the wasted first appeal). If you'd used our template from the Newbies thread you may well have found UKPC folded, as they do! Never mind, you can win at POPLA stage and turn it around.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I really don't know how they think they can get away with this, lets say this was a hire car for example, and hirer A popped into a store at this site at 9 AM, then returned the car to the hire company at 10 AM.

Hirer B picks up the same car at noon, stops off at the same car park at 12:30PM and gets one of their stupid tickets, how on earth could B or anyone else be held accountable.

It's just a pure scam and nothing else!
