They were the ONLY insurer who would cover us for a 20yo+ camper van, for a full year outside the UK, and after insuring the Pug with them last year (via the Meerkats), we've just renewed with them - because they were cheaper off-the-bat for a renewal than any of the Meerkat quotes. They were also very helpful and friendly at the local high st shop ringing up to enquire about the renewal. And that's for a <£120 premium... So... <shrug> YMMV.

    Insurer or broker?

OP, who was your insurer? They may be active in the UK.

If we're going to be picky, then broker. The end insurer was Allianz.

I wasn't being picky. Allianz deal with many brokers so Swinton probably weren't your only option.

Oh, they were. You would not believe how many firms I phoned. Just because one broker is willing to cover specific risks through a particular insurer doesn't mean other brokers are going to want to know.

That was my first thought, a lot of insurers are now multi-nationals so I would imagine transferring an NCB from say a Dutch version of Aviva, AIG or Allianz to their UK sister company would be relatively straightforward (probably wishful thinking)
