Is it bad review illegal?

Hi!
I've wrote a bad review onlie for a recruitment agency which
my wife wasn't satisfied because they treated her wrong.
Few weeks later, the agency owner called me and told me that he will call a police because I slander her agency and this is illegal.
I just wrote my opinion and I think I have a right to my opinion.
Should I be aware of this?

If you are factually correct on what you wrote then that is okay. An opinion which libels a company is a different matter.

As long as the review is factually correct then you have nothing to worry about.

Do you have a copy of the review or a link to it so we can see?

Tell him to go on ahead and call them.

If what you wrote is the truth then it is not libel (slander is spoken , libel is written ) so the fact he doesn't even know the correct term may give you a clue it's a big bluff.

If he is daft enough to call the police - they will tell him it is a civil matter and he'd need to pay a solicitor if he wants to proceed. A decent solicitor will tell him that if what was written was true then there is no case.

Assuming you had to wait for 2 hours in a car park without an explanation, then you have nothing to fear. Truth is an absolute defence.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

OP, if thats your partners real name next to the listing, you'd be better copy pasting what the review said and removing the above post telling people where to find it.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

As I'm new user I can't attach a link to this review, but if you write 'Step by step recruitment worcester uk' in google than you will find it on google's reviews about that agency. Thanks
    Is this your review:
The worst agency in Worcester. They send you by bus to another city for work, then you need to wait for their bus after work 2 hours... on the car park. No explanation before. Irresponsible people treat you like a brainless slave. Shame!
If so, then you might like to consider adjustments.

"The worst agency in Worcester." - is that actually true? If not then that statement is libellous.

"They send you by bus to another city for work..." - is just what happened to you, not what will necessarily happen to others.

I would seriously consider removing that review, or replacing with something like:
"I applied to them for work and was sent to another city to work. I had to wait for two hours for their bus."

Or change it to "The worst agency I've seen/used in Worcester" ;)

  • Being taken to another town/city by bus is a regular thing agencies do to fulfill contracts

It's a subtle area - obvious hyperbole and opinion are different from statements presenting mistruths as facts.
