Stiff mixer tap lever

In our downstairs W/C we have a small basin with a central mixer tap like this:

The lever is stiff to move up and down and our 5 year old struggles to get a sensible flow. She has no problem with the main bathroom mixer which is exactly the same but not so stiff.
Does anyone know if it is possible to adjust these in any way, or is it just a variance in manufacturing?

It could just be gunged up. It's pretty easy to remove the top, have a look and give it a clean.
It looks very similar to the tap in my kitchen. If you carefully prise off the red / blue sticker, there's a little screw behind it. Undo this and the lever will lift off. You can then see if there's any gunge or rust, and clean it off. This may do the trick. Turn off the water first - there may be a service valve in the pipe that will just isolate that one tap, if not then turn off the main stopcock.
Top tip : Put the plug in the plughole before you start, Sod's law guarantees that you'll drop the tiny little screw into the sink !0 -
I wouldn't have thought it would be gunged up, it's been like it since we moved in and it was brand new.Ebe_Scrooge wrote: »It could just be gunged up. It's pretty easy to remove the top, have a look and give it a clean.

Thanks for letting me know how to get the top off to investigate though, that's most useful. It has isolators underneath so I'll take a look and see what I find. Maybe it just needs some lubricant in there or something.
