Sorry but why do I have to give 30 days notice when I am out of contract? I am no longer bound.

The 12 months is a minimum term. You are on a rolling contract.

So if the 30 days notice goes over the year contract they can start charging me higher even if I put into place a new provider ? I reall would rather stay with Sky for a cheaper deal if I quote them the current best offer rather than have to change again.

Yes, for the remainder of your notice you would have to pay the non promotional rate, assuming you are getting a time limited discount at the moment. With regard to getting a new deal call back and speak to someone else, it might take a few calls but Sky are pretty good at giving discounts.

Well my sky phone and broadband is about to end after it's one year contract. I just had a phone call from a rep pushing me to take sky tv. I told him before he gave me the speel that I had just bought a hd recorder with live tv in it. He agreed it was good and carried on trying to flog me the tv. It took me 3 attempts at saying no before he rang off. He said if i need to change my mind i can ring a free phone number (not an 0800 one) he had a welsh accent.

I also said i will be looking for a beter deal on BB and LL but he wouldn't budge and said their prices are very good because all the cheaper deals will be putting their prices up soon anyway, much higher than sky.

I feel they really do use bullying tactics.

Sorry where are the bullying tactics?

There is a fine line between "bullying" and "persistent salesmanship". IMHO, bullying would entail aggressive verbal behaviour.

There are seven words to end a phone call which you no longer wish to continue :

"You have my answer. Thank you. Goodbye".
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

At least six words longer than necessary. :D

No-one gets bullied on the telephone unless they allow it to happen.

you must subscribe to the Service for at least the Minimum Term. The Contract will continue after this time unless it is ended according to the Conditions below.

    ...

If you want to end the Contract you may do so at the end of or after the Minimum Term, by giving us at least 31 days notice at any time

If you want to leave I would recommend cancelling via the web chat service. They are customer services agents and don't tend to go for the hard sell and you can keep a copy of the conversation for future reference.

Not all calls are recorded, and even if they were they could easily 'lose' yours when it doesn't stack in their favour. Best to have a record for yourself instead of relying on them to play nice.
