Child dla backlog help please!

Hello everyone, my childs dla is due to expire in a few days time. I sent the renewal in mid september. She is currently on both high rate care and mobility and her needs havent changed. I sent in various doctors, ot reports etc. Phoned today for an update and was told that there is a backlog of 5 weeks.

My partner and i receive carers allowance due to having another daughter who has a disability. This will stop for me in a few days, along with income support unless they make a decision before it expires which is unlikely, her needs havent changed and stopping the carers allowance and income support for us is going to cause hardship for us and i presume until they have made a decision i am going to be expected to sign on at the job centre and start looking for work which obviously isnt an option due to her needs

any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.

According to this Income Support will continue for 8 weeks after the DLA ends.

When the DLA is sorted it will backdated.

Give Income Support a call and ask them to explain what will happen.

  • Does anyone know if your careers allowance will stop if they haven't come to a decision by the time the current dal award is due to end?

Both your DLA and carers allowance should continue for eight weeks therefore your IS should remain the same during that period.
