Free Solar Panels

I had a telephone call today from a 'company' claiming they are 'Save Britain Money'. They said that subject to a survey, they would be able to install free solar panels at my property. Has anybody had dealings with this company or similar? I can't help feeling that there's some kind of catch somewhere. Thanks.

A company secretary that lasted just 3 months followed by another that lasted by just 5 months and a number of resignations from the board. A company structure that splits down into at least 5 different companies - one for each revenue stream making accountability very complex. Is that haddock I smell?
Oh yes and a quick buyout of an existing telemarketing operation to get the revenue flowing
Life is like a box of chocolates - drop it and the soft centres splash everywhere
  • Don't know anything about that company but the deal is they fit solar panels on your roof for fre eyou get the free electricity and they get the payments from government to cover the cost of the installation.

You be locked into a contract with them for 20 years as well because that's how long the payments are made over

Thanks. It seems to long to be locked into a contract. I think I'll cancel the survey.

Save Britain Money is a legitimate company. They are a sales leads operation that takes on contracts for various schemes - solar panels, PPI etc. Not the classiest of areas to work in, but nonetheless the company itself is valid.

OP, whilst the company itself is a valid one, I would not touch solar panels for the reasons captainhindsight mentions.

They could also cause problems, should you want to sell your property as a buyer may not wish to rent out their roof and be prevented from having their own panels and income from them.

Thank you all for the information. I'll call them tomorrow to cancel.

I tried to cancel their visit by telephoning them using the number I was given but the number didn't work. I wondered if I wrote down an incorrect digit or the like. In any case, I was at the house in question on Friday and they didn't turn up and I've heard nothing from them. Very strange. Thank you all for your replies.
