Can anyone please advise me what happens on completion day. We are due to complete on Friday. Could anything go wrong?

Blimey, don't start worrying about things that might go wrong! Bad enough as it is!
I presume you've exchanged.
You will wait for the call to say the monies have been received (no idea how long your chain is). Aim for 1pm-ish, but could be 11am, could be 3pm. You will then be able to collect keys - probably from EAs (if used).
No idea if you're selling a property or using a removal co. They'll be there early in the morning to load the van if so.
Lots of ifs and buts as you've not given us much to go on...
Good luck!

You pay.
You get the keys.
If you want, you move.
Have you Exchanged? Biggest problem is likely to be delay and boredom while you wait/
Not Exchanged? The whole deal could collapse.0 -
Give us a clue! Not every single completion is the same for every property everywhere.
Ask your solicitor, they will be able to advise specifically for your situation but the basic premise has been outlined above.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Aim for 1pm-ish,
Regrettably some sellers' solicitors close their switchboards/go to lunch at 1pm so I would chase the EAs 12-12.30.
The estate agents will need to phone the seller's solicitors to see if the money has come through. If this is before 1pm then you may be told you can collect the keys. If you try after 1pm then the agents may not be able to get sense from the seller's solicitor until 2.30pm or after (even if the money got through at 1.01pm!).RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
Richard Webster is right. It's a right pain in the !!!! when it gets to lunch time and trust me the solicitors make the most of lunch time!!
If you have a removal company they'll turn up early doors and start loading. You need to chase the agent snd more importantly the solicitor to get the funds trsnsferred ASAP. Once that happens and all monies are exchanged between solicitors, you'll be given the green light to physically move by your solicitor who'll call you...keep your mobile on and charged!
Then you lock up for the last time, get down the estate agents and give in your keys, taking the new ones with you...you'll need to be in contact with them before you actually leave to confirm your seller has either handed their keys in, or will be very soon.
You then crack on and move. You'll probably bump in to your seller, person your buying from, in the office as they do the same as you.
Key to moving day is chase, chase CHASE your solicitor, remember, you are only one of many people moving and those who shout loudest....
Enjoy and good luck0 -

NOBODYS DRIVING - That's great news. Yay for us. It has been fairly stressful as my solicitors haven't been the best. Cant wait for this all to be over and to be in our lovely new place. It will be so nice we will both be in our new places at Christmas. x
I should mentioned we exchanged last Friday and we are chain free on both sides.0 -
