Sony Xperia Z3 Compact headphone jack

Bit of a long shot this one I'm sure, but thought maybe someone had experienced the same and might have a quick fix solution!
I have a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact mobile phone, which seems to have just developed a fault with the earphone jack. Basically, I plug earphones in and music plays, but when I move the earphones connector even slightly (touch the wire, try to put the phone in my pocket etc) the music pauses as if I have removed the earphones. I can then also hear slight interference.
I can't see anything immediately obvious blocking the jack. I've blown down it to remove any dust. It was all working fine on Friday but now has the above problem. The phone has not been dropped or got wet.
Just wondered if anyone might have an idea what this could be, hardware or software? O2 suggested I make an appointment to see one of their gurus in store so I'll do that but hoping someone could save me a trip!
Thanks in advance!
