I am planning on getting my eldest a netbook for Christmas to help him with his school work.I dont want to spend too much on one as he has all of the usual phones/tablets etc and they somehow manage to " break" after a while.
Just want something simple that has word/powerpoint/excel and maybe windows 7.Dont need a CD/DVD drive just a USB port so obviously just a simple netbook will do.
Plan on spending around £100 to £130 on a refurbished one if anybody has ideas where might be best to try.
Thanks in advance :money:

This one's well within your budget, and also from Argos - and it's white. Only one left though.

You may find Office (Word etc) may not be included, so budget for that, or try a free option such as Libreoffice0

Buying the refurb will leave enough in the budget for the RAM upgrade to 2GB costing £9.450

Or try a Samsung N145 netbook off ebay. One example being this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Samsung-N145-Plus-Atom-1-66GHz-2GB-Memory-160GB-HDD-10-1-Netbook-/131352271036
and then put Libre Office software on it for free.0 -

I wouldn't. Only has a 30 day Warranty and will be marked. Some Samsung Netbooks are ludicrously slow. Perhaps the bundled software and partitions have an effect.
The MSIs above are new or 'as new'( in the case of the refurb).0 -

...or the free online versions of MSoffice programs accessed through your onedrive. They don't have full functionality but they are pretty good and 'free'. I probably use the excel offering daily.0 -
You can get some good cheap laptops off gumtree. The laptop that runs my telescope and associated cameras cost me just £30. Windows 7, 4 Gb RAM, quad core chip, 500Gb drive.0

Thanks, was thinking about Office and how much it would cost to upgrade to home edition.Would mainly be using it for his school work so PowerPoint and word would be the programs needed most.If the free versions are enough for him then even better. The truth shall set you free.....................0
