I've finally worked it all out!!!

Everything that costs eBay money, gets you a defect!!! Cancellations, returns (that you cannot refund if they have bought more than one), claiming INR so buyer gets a refund - they all mean eBay looses revenue on refunded FVF and Paypal fees.

And the lack of sales...... slowly by surely they are dropping everyone's sales so they fall within the 450 a quarter and so they go onto 12 month review - and all the old historical defects which you cannot go back and get removed as you cannot find out what they are for, will suddenly appear, put you under target and they can remove you from eBay.

Or maybe I have just got too much time on my hands these days..... hmmmmm.

    Sadly I agree with you.

Wish you had dreamed it and so could put it down to having cheese the night before! :rotfl:

True and the most " expensive" defect for Ebay is when they have to step in and resolve the issue themselves rather than the seller resolve. This costs money in employing staff - hence you can only have 0.3% of these - one in three hundred! That seems to fastest way to get chucked off !

  • Well, I have looked at my dashboard and I have 3 defects that I need removed, ordinarily I would not bother and let them drop off as I get so few but they are going to have an impact if it goes to 12 month review. But someone opened one maliciously, another they had the item and 'forgot' to close it - that is going to be an hour online so can wait until tonight when it is quiet. But for all of these times having to do this, what a waste of their time and ours.

I have sold nothing since Saturday. I am sitting here trying to work out how I use Amazon now, I am just waiting for verification but I cannot list in the clothing category I need to - the option is not there for some (annoying) reason. Every day I have some woman from Amazon asking me if I need help and the only day I do there is no response to my email!!! Gah!!
  • Well, I've sold items for the last 4 years, but two weeks ago eBay lowered my selling limits to just a few hundred items a month. All my DSR's were at 4.9 or above. This is presumably due to the defect system. I checked and have 7 defects for the last year, which is on 1800 items.

The defect system is utterly stupid if eBay think that 7 defects out of 1800 is not acceptable.

As a result, I've now closed my shop (losing eBay £20 a month), and all the items I used to list will cost them further, as will all the final value fees.

Glad I don't rely on eBay to make a living, I'd have been so stressed wondering whether my account was up for limitation all the time.

To be honest, very happy to be shot of them.

Well, the decision has been made - everything I can list on Amazon is being moved to Amazon. Everything else I am merging into MVL and reducing my shop. I am also putting the stuff back on my website (which gets no traffic because of Google Ads now being required).

Everything send overseas is going to have to go with tracking because most of the stuff seems to be claimed as INR.

I am getting tired of the fight and will not be buying anything else from my suppliers, once this stuff is gone (and I still have around 3000 items) I am winding down because I just want to spend the time with my kids and eBay literally takes all my days now.

I want to be sitting watching a movie, not waiting for the next INR to come in.

What's that ? I'm thinking of my own website shortly ?
    Thanks

Ask them to call you. They're mostly well informed and helpful. The only time I've dealt with an idiot on Amazon CS was as a buyer. You need pre approval for clothing but not sure of what you need for that.

I have had a really bad run with Ebay recently with INR's - resulting in defects as I always ask buyers to open a case.
I did try to have the defects for INR removed with Ebay CS but she said there was nothing that could be done without tracking.
Currently on 0.83% defect rate - 2% and over and I lose TRS - 3 out of 7 defects for INR cases... Seems pretty unfair to me!

We also ask all INRs to open a case, we have 68 defects of which 27 are INR.

Of the 27 only a handful are likely to be genuine claims.

You are obviously a much much bigger seller than me, mine are for just over 700 sales...
Has anyone had any luck getting a defect for INR removed?
