Accommodation near Heathrow on a tight budget

My son has managed to secure 2weeks work experience at Heathrow airport in the summer 2015.

Can anyone please suggest cheap, but safe accommodation, within easy travelling distance of the airport.

So far Hounslow travelodge is the best I can see, but even booking this far in advance is over £600.

Have you thought about asking the company he is doing his work experience with if they have any suggestions for accommodation?

That is not a bad rate of approx £43 per night in a hotel in London during the peak summer season. For cheaper accomodation you could look at a bed only basis in somewhere like a hostel or Uni accomodation.

Have a look at airbnb or similar. If you/he are ok with him taking a spare room in someone's house or flat, you should be able to beat that price quite easily.

I've recently been looking at hotels near Heathrow just for one night.

The cheapest I've found ( close to Terminal 5) is a Travelodge @ £26 per night (non refundable) From what I've read elsewhere on the forum the likes of Travelodge and PremierInn can offer cheaper rates for longer stays.

Perhaps B&B places nearby?
