freezing up&blank screen

Why might my screen freeze up and sometimes go off? the only way to restart is to turn off which is not a good idea!!!this problem has no pattern or obvious reason. can someone help please?

try visiting the maker of your video cards web site and look for updated drivers, if no new then download and overwrite the existing one, maybe a corrupt driver ??Ex forum ambassador

If its not your video card it could be a problem with overheating. This will cause screen to freeze, go blank and stuff. If it is the cause then you need to put your tower somwhere more ventilated.
You can also take the panels of the side of the tower and give it a good hoover out.
Run your PC for a while without the side panel on and see if it remedies the problem - if it does then its probably overheating.0 -
thanx peeps.i've started with a dam good vacuum. fans were a bit clogged,so i,ll see how it goes.will also check ror driver updates.0
