flights get more expensive nearer the time as fewer seats remain its called supply and demand so book it now direct with the airline

Tenerife is popular, if the price is ok and you prefer Monarch to other airlines, then book now. Demand may get in the way of significant price falls.

We wanted to go to the canaries in Feb. We would now have to pay £70 each more than we would have had we booked 4-days ago :(

Actually it is often cheaper to book last minute, unless it Half Term or similar.
    How much did you pay?

It's also true that often if you wait to the last minute there is no availability.

Best advice I could give is decide what you are happy to pay, if it's within that then book and don't go back and check the price. The chances of you getting the cheapest seat on the flight is slim.

That's not a bad price. Remind us to take a look a couple of weeks beforehand.
