Ok, so I have got a Humax 2000T working with my Sony flatscreen which isnt HD but still a decent quality. Before I got the Humax the Sony dvd home cinema surround fed into the tv via a HDMI cable making the most of the DvD quality. The instructions for the Humax states that you dont need a scart lead as well as a HDMI but for some reason the tv will not pick up a picture with the HDMI even though the Tv has 2 x HDMI inputs. I ha to resort to scart and an Optical digital cable for the sound to go though the Sony Surround speakers. Its all very complex when you have 3 things trying to work together.
So far I have sound and vision but to my eyes, even viewing the online BBCi player the quality doesn't seem as crisp and punchy as the tv did from it's normal freeview and dvd feed. Soemthing doesnt seem right. I would say the BBC i player quality is a bit washed out and soft.
Basicly, is a HDMI cable going to make more of a difference than a scart ? If so, how on earth do I get the signal from the Humax to speak to the tv ?

Sometimes it's the obvious things that don't get spotted so please don't be offended.
Have you selected the correct HDMI input on the TV remote? My TV will not automatically select the port when the connected device is switched on.0 -
Have you tried the Humax hdmi connection in the hdmi socket being used by the surround sound?. If it works its likely to be a selection issue,as above.0

Yes i have scanned via the tv remote to check for HDMI devices and it says none detected. Nothing in Humax settings regarding HDMI0

The only other thing i can suggest is that if your surround sound system operates via pass through, (ie several inputs but only one output to tv), then make sure the correct hdmi source is selected on the surround system as well. Other than that I'm beat i'm afraid.0

Well now the Humix has just frozen on me resulting in no response from remote or front panel. Will have to powerdown from wall to get back. Not happy with that at all.
Only 1 HDMI slot in Sony surround.0 -
forget the Sony. Hookup the Humax direct to the TV via HDMI.
Try both your HDMI cables and HDMI ports0 -

Thanks but this isn't the model I have. I have the 2000T0 -
the excellent Humax support – 0844 669 8800 (UK Customer Helpline).
When connecting the Humax have you removed the scart lead?.
You appear to be returning the Humax so no point in further replies.
