NatWest Private - Automatic Upgrade ?

Just a quick question............

If someone had a Natwest Current account, lets say the Platinum account. Would Natwest contact the customer if a lot of funds started to go into their account to upgrade them to the private one ?.

For example if their salary going in was £2k a week, or would Natwest not really monitor accounts for that sort of thing.

  • I think that you need to apply for it.

Why do you ask? I don't find it to be a particularly great account, and am planning on closing mine soon, and transferring my pay to my Coutts account, who are a bit nicer to deal with.

They will auto upgrade or also via a request.

I think NatWest/RBS revised their private offerings and the free private account certainly isn't much better than the standard/pleb version now.

Sadly you have to have your salary transferred into the account. I am working abroad and earn over the criteria however I would have to transfer all my salary into the account to qualify which is not the most cost effective way for me.

Coutts have a branch here (Qatar) but they want £1m of investible assets. I don't think they seem to rely on salary anymore.
