Switch? Also home comfort question.
Hi totally new to the idea of switching and keep reading of cashback deals etc. We are with scottish power at the moment and have been since we moved in. How easy is switching, how do we get an incentive to do so?
Also we have Scottish power home comfort so pay £15 a month for boiler callout and annual servicing. Are we being robbed? It used to be with our package (fixed deal for 3 years home comfort included) then in feb this year they just started taking the extra dd out of our account for home comfort. Are there any tariffs with other energy providers that give this service free?
Do we have any better options here do you think?
Thanks.

or any other comparison site .
Your incentive is a possible lower rate than you pay now and a cashback from the comparison site .
Decide on the tariff you want by entering your consumption figures . Key is tariff not estimated direct debit .
Apply to switch contacted by new supplier who will ask for meter readings . Wait between ten days and six weeks for change to go through .0 -

I am sure that they must have informed you in some way: I suspect that the change is down to OFGEM's rules on simpler tariffs. That said, I cannot understand - other than for convenience - why anyone would want to link boiler insurance/servicing with their energy supply. This site has a section on boiler insurance; personally though, I would look for a local heating company. Many of them run their own schemes and you can ask them to give you the names of 3 customers for feedback.

I'm with Scottish Power too. Every year I go on to U-Switch to see who is offering the best deal. This year I could have saved £50 a year by switching to a company I've never heard of but stayed with Scottish Power on a fixed price deal.
The benefit of the deal, as well as being with a known company and fixing the price for well over a year, is that there is no exit penalty. So if someone comes along with a better deal I can switch at no cost.
Looks like energy prices are going to start coming down. They are being held artificially high, some say, for the following reason. Labour say they will introduce a price freeze, so energy companies are keeping prices up in case Labour get in: the last thing the companies want is prices to be fixed, then wholesale prices rise and force them into a loss. So they are building in a bit of extra margin as insurance. I'm sure Millibean means well though.0
