Last year for my birthday just before Christmas we went here

It was amazing and we got a great deal
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • We are going here on the Isle of Arran - fabulous place and the ferry journey is an adventure too. We visited at the beginning of the month for our wedding anniversary and loved it so booked to go back on the 28th Dec for a 2 night stay but taking the kids this time to cramp our style!

If you both have passports, it may well be cheaper going abroad, maybe even to a (somewhat belated) Christmas market. Prague in the snow is lovely.

I've always found the UK to be ridiculously expensive, especially at that time of year - plus, if there are any shops where you're going, it'll be Christmas sales and just a nightmare doing anything. York is nice, but I've been in Nov and it was lovely, Christmassy - but heaving! So so busy! Gawd knows what the end of Dec is like...

I'd find a nice little cottage in a little village or small town somewhere with a woodburning stove and enjoy the peace and quiet.

We are in the middle of the country (just south of midlands) happy to travel anywhere would see that part of the break x

    My vote is for Norfolk
  • There are kiads of good deals for short stays around thr UK on Groupon. We've been looking at local ones to us in the Cotswolds and there is a pretty good selection
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.
  • I second Norfolk, but I would since I live there! We, however, are escaping to Bath for 2 nights. I would also recommend that! x

  • I've found this site - https://www.classicbritain.com - can offer better deals than going direct to the hotel.

Crerar hotels also offer good Twixmas breaks.

Bath is pretty with nice shops, history, countryside, architecture and a lovely spa.
