Just to clarify, I actualy live in North Manchester but work in Liverpool.
I think I would find it easier if the BTL property was within my local area. I understand that it does limit my choice to property. My parents 2nd property is let out and I see the convenience of it being very close by... especially when there are problems.
I wa speaking to a customer once and he said he lets his property to the DSS/Local Housing Authority. They choose who stays there but he is always guaranteed a fixed rental payment, regardless of it being left unoccupied. Though I'm not sure if they would take reponsibility of any mess/damage left behind by tenants.
I think it boils down to risk and reward. A decision I would need to make. Depending on which one I chose, I would be anywhere between reaping generous benefits or financially worse off.0 -
