Sky+HD Box - Coaxial Digital Sound

Hi,
I have my Sky+HD box connected to a home cinema amp via a coaxial cable and it has always worked perfectly.
Recently, however, this has stopped working all together.
I have tried a different cable which made no difference.
All the other sources connected to the amp work perfectly.
The sound output via the TV is fine through HDMI.
We don't always use the sound through the amp unless watching movies or music so I can't be sure exactly when it stopped working but I recall there was an update fairly recently - could that have caused the coaxial output to be disabled?
I notice in the settings menu it only mentions the optical output however I can't recall if it was always that way.
Any ideas?

All you can try is process of elimination. Connect the Sky box to something else which is known to accept coax digi and is known to work. If that works, it suggests the HC amp is faulty. If it doesn't, suggests the Sky box is faulty.
Connect another known working coax source to the input on the amp to verify.0 -
I'd try an optical digital cable if you can to your amp. They did make an update to the sound menu in the most recent box update, but you say you've already poked around in there. I wonder if they've disabled the digi coax for some daft reason. Do the newest boxes still have digi coax?0

I tested the sky boxon another input and it worked. The HTPC connected to that channel didn't work when connected to the cable input so that confirmed the fault on the amp. Optical cable now in place and working. something wrong with the coaxial input it would seem.
The amp is about 15 years old so its done well... downhill from here!?!?The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0
